The already congested recreational 4WD market has been taken by storm by the brand new VW Tiguan. The VW Tiguan’s overall car-like performance on tar and dirt handling capabilities are its stand out points apart from the fact that every dollar on this vehicle is well spent.

One of the strengths of the VW Tiguan is its VW 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system that is used across other VW models. This technology ensures the Tiguan has a seamless off-road grip so there is no tendency to break traction and lose grip. There is also a hill-descent function option and enhanced electronic stability control with active rollover protection.

From an environmental perspective, the VW Tiguan has its act together, as the diesel engine has a particulates filter that captures the soot that would otherwise be released through the tailpipe. According to VW, the Tiguan already complies with Euro 5 emission standards that won’t be in place in Australia for years.

In terms of the safety end of the design, the VW Tiguan has a five-star crash rating and a two-star pedestrian rating – not bad for a first model. With a similar design to the older VW Touareg, the Tiguan has a towing capacity of up to two tonnes.
